OCR description
The covered entity (CE), Desert Pulmonary & Sleep Consultants, PLC, reported that a former partner accessed the protected health information (PHI) of 3,000 individuals without authorization. The PHI involved demographic information. The CE notified HHS, the media, and the affected individuals. OCR provided technical assistance to the CE regarding the HIPAA Rules and received evidence substantiating the CE’s notifications.
