CVE-2026-116581Seroval: fromJSON deserializer trusts sequence doneAt (unauthenticated event-loop DoS)

It affects lxsmnsyc seroval. Add what you run to find out whether that includes you.
EPSS puts the chance of exploitation in the next 30 days at 0.45%, higher than 39% of scored CVEs.
Seroval facilitates JavaScript value stringification, including complex structures beyond JSON.stringify capabilities. Prior to 1.6.8, fromJSON and fromCrossJSON do not validate a sequence node's done index. A crafted done index can create an iterator that never finishes when application code consumes it to completion. An unauthenticated request to a service that deserializes untrusted input can therefore block the event loop, exhaust process memory, or make the service unavailable. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.8.

The CVE record on cve.org NVD's entry
The CVE record is authoritative. Products marked “from the name” were identified from the CNA's free-text names, not a CPE, and are matched less certainly. This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.
