CVE-2026-2239Gimp: gimp: application crash (dos) via crafted psd file due to heap-buffer-overflow

Updated under an hour ago ()

Does this affect you?

It affects Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and 1 other product. Add what you run to find out whether that includes you.

No exploitation reported and no EPSS estimate yet.

A flaw was found in GIMP. Heap-buffer-overflow vulnerability exists in the fread_pascal_string function when processing a specially crafted PSD (Photoshop Document) file. This occurs because the buffer allocated for a Pascal string is not properly null-terminated, leading to an out-of-bounds read when strlen() is subsequently called. Successfully exploiting this vulnerability can cause the application to crash, resulting in an application level Denial of Service.

The CVE record is authoritative. Products marked “from the name” were identified from the CNA's free-text names, not a CPE, and are matched less certainly. This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.
