CVE-2026-93007Dnsmasq: dnsmasq: tcp/53 child-slot exhaustion starves dnssec validation
Updated under an hour ago ()
Does this affect you?
It affects Red Hat Ceph Storage 9 and 3 other products. Add what you run to find out whether that includes you.
No exploitation reported and no EPSS estimate yet.
A flaw was found in dnsmasq. The TCP DNS service uses a small fixed pool of child processes and does not set a receive timeout on client connections. A remote attacker can open idle TCP connections to port 53 and occupy the entire pool, preventing new TCP DNS connections and DNSSEC validation that requires TCP fallback. UDP DNS resolution continues, and occupied slots are released after a fixed lifetime.

The CVE record on cve.org NVD's entry
The CVE record is authoritative. Products marked “from the name” were identified from the CNA's free-text names, not a CPE, and are matched less certainly. This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.
